U.S. Presidential Gravesites
We didn't set out to do this but last year we realized there were only four Presidential gravesites we hadn't yet visited. So we headed south in March of 2026 to pick up our last four. Each President has his own blog post with his presidential sites visited (First President - Washington) but here are the gravesites, in order of their presidencies and with their presidential years.
George Washington, 1789-1797, his Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia.
John Adams, 1797-1801, in the crypt of United First Parish church in Quincy, Massachusetts (along with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law).
Thomas Jefferson, 1801-1809, his estate in Monticello, Virginia.
James Madison, 1809-1817, his estate in Montpelier Station, Virginia.

Franklin Pierce, 1853-1857, in Old North Cemetery in Concord, New Hampshire.
James Buchanan, 1857-1861, in Woodward Hill Cemetery, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Abraham Lincoln, 1861-1865, in a vault inside his large tomb. His remains lie 10 feet below this monument inside the tomb.

William McKinley, 1897-1901, in a large mausoleum in Canton, Ohio.
Theodore Roosevelt, 1901-1909, Youngs Memorial Cemetery in Oyster Bay Cove, New York.
William Howard Taft, 1909-1913, is one of two Presidents to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Woodrow Wilson, 1913-1921, is the only President to rest in peace in Washington D.C., Washington National Cathedral.Warren Harding, 1921-1923, his Memorial Park in Canton, Ohio.
Calvin Coolidge, 1923-1929, in a large family plot in Plymouth Notch Cemetery in Plymouth Notch, Vermont.
Herbert Hoover, 1929-1933, on the grounds of his Presidential Museum in West Branch, Iowa.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1933-1945, on the grounds of what was his Hyde Park home in New York, and is now part of the National Park Service.
Harry S. Truman, 1945-1953, on the grounds of his Presidential Museum in Independence, Missouri.
Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953-1961, in a Chapel on the grounds of his Presidential Museum in Abilene, Kansas.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1961-1963, in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, with an eternal flame.
Lyndon Baines Johnson, 1963-1969, in the Johnson Family Cemetery on the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas.
Richard Milhous Nixon, 1969-1974, on the grounds of his Presidential Museum and Library in Yorba Linda, California.
Gerald R. Ford, 1974-1977, next to the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Jimmy Carter, 1977-1981, across from his long time home in Plains, Georgia, in what is now the Carter Gardens and Burial Site.
Ronald Reagan, 1981-1989, on the grounds of his Presidential Museum in Simi Valley, California.
George H.W. Bush, 1989-1993, on the campus of Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas, where his Presidential Museum is also located.
That brings us up to Clinton who is still alive but has his gravesite designated. Behind his museum in Little Rock, Arkansas, both he and Hillary will take their final rest.
