James Madison ~ March 16, 1751 - June 28, 1836

4th President, 1809-1817

James Madison sites visited:
Other than when he resided in the White House, James Madison lived almost all of his life at Montpelier. He is also buried here in the family cemetery. You can find his plantation in Montpelier Station, Virginia.
It was a quick walk to the cemetery where our shortest president (5' 4") is buried.
The grounds are beautiful, as is befitting the "Father of the Constitution."
He has a bust in the Capitol Building in Richmond, Virginia.

28th President, 1913-1921 Woodrow Wilson sites visited: Wilson's birthplace and museum/library are located on the same site in Staunton, Virginia. The Garden The museum There was a World War I exhibit on the lower level. This was Wilson's home from 1871-1875, 1705 Hampton St, Columbia, South Carolina. Wilson is the only President whose burial site is inside Washington National Cathedral in D.C. Woodrow Wilson is the only President to date to have earned a Ph.D. He is one of four presidents to have received the Nobel Peace Prize (along with Theodore Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama). John Fitzgerald Kennedy ~ May 29, 1917 - November 22, 1963

35th President, 1961-1963  JFK sites visited: JFK was born at 83 Beals Street in Brookline, MA, in 1917. We happened to eat here on a visit to Boston, MA in 2014.  This statue in Dayton, Ohio, is supposed to represent Kennedy and the Eternal Flame. You be the judge. Find it on the campus of the University of Dayton, E. Stewart Street. The National Museum of the U.S. Air force is located near Dayton and has Kennedy's plane, the one that flew him to Dallas and back in 1963. The car which carried Kennedy on that fateful day in Dallas is in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. After the assassination the car was rebuilt with a roof, armor plating, and more, and remained in service until 1977. Gerald R. Ford ~ July 14, 1913 - December 26, 2006

38th President 1974 - 1977 Gerald R. Ford sites visited: The house no longer stands but Ford's birth site was made into a beautiful park. 3202 Woolworth Ave, Omaha Nebraska 630 Rosewood, Grand Rapids MI Ford lived here from 1922-1923 but the historic sign at his next boyhood home ignores this site. 649 Union, Grand Rapids MI (sign says 1921-1930) 330 Washington, Grand Rapids MI Ford lived here with his wife, Betty, from 1948-1950. Born Leslie Lynch King, Jr., Ford was called Gerald R. Ford Jr. after his mother's re-marriage to Gerald R. Ford, Sr in 1917. Ford was never formally adopted by his step-father and he didn't legally change his name until 1935. Ford is the only Eagle Scout to have become President. He is also the only president to date to have his library and museum in two different places. Ann Arbor, Michigan, has his library with a small first floor exhibit open to the public.
