Dwight Eisenhower ~ October 14, 1890 - March 28, 1969

34th President 1953 - 1961
Eisenhower sites visited:

Eisenhower's library, museum, boyhood home, and gravesite are all found together in Abilene, Kansas.
His boyhood home where Ike lived from 1898-1911 offers tours.
The museum was undergoing renovation so only a small display was available. That gives us a reason to visit again.

The Eisenhower tree
The Eisenhower graves are found in the Meditation Chapel.
Ike has a statue in the middle of the grounds.
This car was built for President Truman but is most associated with Eisenhower who used the vehicle from 1952-1960. The car can be seen at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
This plane was Eisenhower's personal airplane from 1954-1961. It is currently located in the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.
In June of 2019 we were in Gettysburg and took a tour of the Eisenhower Farm. Ike purchased the farm in 1950, and he and Mamie retired there.
This is a painting by Eisenhower, and his putting green is just outside of the house.
The Guest House
Secret Service Office
Here are some miscellaneous photographs displayed at the farm.
The farm is beautifully preserved and we were glad we took the time to tour it.
Two miscellaneous artifacts were found in the Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Eisenhower was the first president to be born in Texas, and the first president to have served in both World Wars. He was the first president to have a pilot's license and the first to appear on color television.
He is one of seven presidents who was alive during two presidential assassinations (McKinley and JFK in his case).
"History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."
